Wiffits are a mixture of feline, avian, and fairy. They are about the height of an average human's forearm from elbow to wrist, and are capable of both flight and mindspeech. Females have the specific traits of antennae and a puma-like tail. Males have the specific traits of horns and a lion-esque tail. They are named in two part names such as "Spring Rain" or "Flamed Sunrise" and always in the common tongue. Names usually are based on the wiffits type/subtype or their coloration. Wiffits come in many Types and Subtypes. Those known are listed below: Seasonal: Autumn, Winter, Spring, Summer Elemental: Earth, Air, Fire, Water Ethereal: Celestial, Spirit, and Demonic NEW! Specializations, Mixes, and Mages have also started to crop up! Specializations are just that, a wiffit with powers in only one area rather than general powers, such as over snowflakes instead of all ice. Mixes are two or more subtypes showing through in one wiffit. And Mages have exceptional strength in their power (note that mages can be a subtype mage OR a specialized mage). Their diet consists mainly of small rodents. They refrain from eating anything winged unless in dire need of food. Lizards and snakes are also a tasty treat for them now and again. Wiffits enjoy a moderate climate with a mixture of open places and wooded areas for privacy and protection. They like being warm and will happily curl up next to the fireplace if you bring them indoors with you. Wiffits form breeding groups known as "Gatherings" which consist of at least 3 wiffits, one male and two females. There will be a lead female, and a secondary male and female. More members are welcome to the Gathering but females must always outnumber or equal the number of males. Within the Gathering there may be unattached members or the wiffits may choose lifemates on rare occassion. There is also a strong tendency to mate with other wiffits of the same Type, but not necessarily the same Subtype. A birthing of kittens is termed a "fit" for this particular species. The kittens are raised and socialized here and then adopted out when they reach adulthood.
